Highlights of my diverse journey in the field of education, in reverse:
I currently work at a university as an exam technician. A large component of my work (and the part that I find most rewarding!) is to support students with documented disabilities by managing the exam centre that ensures their approved exam accommodations are provided for their quizzes and exams. Prior to this role, I was employed as an Outreach Educator with a non-profit science education group dedicated to providing hands-on science learning opportunities for school-aged children as well as community members. A series of contracts brought me experience as a Program Coordinator with summer camps for children living with Type 1 Diabetes, a Youth Engagement Coordinator with a provincial partnership project between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education related to healthy living advocacy, and as a Care Aide supporting individuals and groups of people living with a wide range of physical and developmental disabilities. My classroom teaching includes 4 years in a variety of settings and including the full range of pre-K through grade 12 students as well as developing curriculum content for an distance learning program. I completed my Bachelor of Education in 2007, focusing on Outdoor Education and Canadian Literature. My interest to working with young people began when I trained to become a Level 2 coach with canoe and kayak racers as a teen. |
